Andy Cohen, FAIA, CEO & Executive Director of Gensler
Andy Cohen grew up on Long Island, New York, working in his father’s dairy market on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In high school, he took a drafting course that would change his life.
Andy went on to attend Pratt Institute and majored in architecture. Upon graduation, he worked in Manhattan for a very brief stint. A trip to Los Angeles would change his life again. He quit his Manhattan job, and set his sights to find work in LA.
In 1981, Andy joined Gensler Architecture, where he has grown himself and the firm over the course of a thirty-year career. Now CEO and Executive Director, Andy is a champion of design excellence, and a mentor to the design leadership of the firm’s diverse practice areas and offices. Andy overseas design initiatives, client development and strategic growth, and helped build Gensler’s airport, entertainment, hospitality and mixed-use practices.
