Russ Lesser

Russ LesserRuss a native Californian has lived in Manhattan Beach California for all of his 72 years.  A graduate of Cal State Long Beach in 1964, Russ served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army,  worked for a large local CPA firm becoming a partner in 1970 and managing partner in 1986.

In 1990, he took the job as president of Body Glove International, known around the world for wetsuits, surf apparel and other active lifestyle products.

Russ and Charlotte have been married 48 years and have three grown children and six grandchildren.

Russ served eight years on the Manhattan Beach City Council including two terms as mayor.  He also has served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and on numerous boards and commissions.

He is the co-founder of the Manhattan Beach 10K run, ranked as one of the top 100 road races in the country, which had its 35th annual running last October.

Russ is an avid skier, scuba diver and runner, having completed 16 marathons and logged over 50,000 miles running.

Russ and Charlotte have received many awards individually and jointly, including Citizens of the Year in Manhattan Beach, and Citizens of the year in the South  Bay.

Russ also plays guitar in a rock band named “Thin Ice” along with his two sons and  good friends, and has written and recorded numerous songs.
